The hex patcher
Advanced
So what's this fancy hex patcher for?
It's used to insert custom assembly hacks.
What is assembly?
For Cave Story, it is an instruction set, I won't go into much more detail about it.
Now, if you've seen someones custom hack before, it'll look like this:
40b36d
83 c1 11
40b3a7
83 c1 11
This is a relatively smaller hack, but it's a pretty good one.
This hack, will allow Cave Story to run at 60 FPS.
Ok, cool, how do I put it into my mod?
Go to the action tab, and click on the hex patcher, it should look like this:
Now, you need to put 0x before your offset number, and then put down the hex pairs on the next line down.
The numbers in blue are the offset numbers
The numbers in red are the hex pairs
In case your having trouble with this, i'll show you what is SHOULD look like:
And now, Cave Story should run at 60 FPS.
A good way to tell if it actually worked, is to jump, you'll see that the player character's jump is alot less "floaty".
Oh, yes, credits to GIRakaCHEEZER for discovering this hack.
